Wisenet Wave – Updating the Software
There are multiple ways of updating Wave VMS. You have a
choice to automatically update or update with a click of a button or
even update manually if the server cannot connect to a network. The Wave
may have a few patch releases in between the official releases. The
software will not automatically update to the patch version but can be
easily updated with a few simple steps.
When the client is updated to a higher version and tries to connect
to the server; the VMS will prompt a message to update the server to the
same version so they may be compatible. If the server is on a higher
version the client will prompt a message to update to the same version
as the server.
*Before performing any update, always backup your information and database*
Online Update Method:
verify that the system has stable internet connection.
Open the Wave application from your server or workstation.
Go to System Administration -> Updates
Click the Update Button.
Once the update is complete, you will be prompt to restart your client.
On the same menu, you may enable or disable to check for automatic updates.
Offline Update Method:
Make sure to download the update file from https://wavevms.com/download/from another workstation with an internet connection.
Open the Wave application from your server or workstation.
Go to System Administration -> Updates.
On the top left, there’s a drop-down menu to select “Browse for Update File”
A menu will appear for you to select the downloaded file.
Once the update is complete, you will be prompt to restart your client.
Open the Wave application from your server or workstation.
Go to System Administration -> Updates
On the top left, there’s a drop-down menu to select “Specific Build…”
In the new menu, input the correct build number and passwordthat was given from our website.
Allow the progress bar to complete the update to the patch version.
Once it’s complete, you will be prompt to restart your client.
SINGLE SERVER SYSTEMS Single server systems are systems that have only one instance of the WAVE media server application running.
TO UPGRADE: Download WAVE server-only Installation Package for your device’s operating system and follow the installation Wizard.
MULTI-SERVER SYSTEMS TO UPGRADE:
Identify the Enterprise Controller (EC) server in your current system.
Do NOT modify the EC machine’s IP address and make sure the system’s EC is running before you begin.
Download and install the server-only installation package on the computer where your EC is currently running and follow the installation wizard.
Install the server-only installation package on remaining system servers.
SERVERS RUNNING Enterprise Controller SEPARATELY FROM MEDIA SERVERS Sometimes
systems have the EC running on a separate machine from the Media
Servers. If your system is setup in this manner you’ll need to follow
these steps.
Identify the Enterprise Controller (EC) server in your current system.
Do NOT modify the EC machine’s IP address and make sure the system’s EC is running before you begin.
Download and install the server-only installation package on the computer where your EC is currently running and follow the installation wizard.
Install the server-only installation package on remaining system servers.
If no longer needed, uninstall the server application.
